Focus Time — Favs

For the last 3 years I have been creating playlists for “each period of my life”. If there is a “special event”, I’ll create a new playlist, and then anytime I hear a new song that I like, I add it to the playlist. I’ve decided to start sharing my favorites from the playlists. I was able to cut down the original playlist with 80 songs down to 26 songs.
For context, the most recent life period I labeled as “Focus Time”. I had been working on 5 different projects and not making significant progress on any of them. I decided I needed to go “all in” with one idea. On May 13th 2022, I decided on one idea to go all in with, MJ’s House (since then the focus has shifted).
This period of my life was stressful, and I was in a relationship that had its own ups and downs. Most of the songs are reflective of how I felt during the highs and lows of my relationships and of my “focus time venture”. Hope you enjoy the song selections!

I’m Coming Clean — Ezra Furman: After watching the first episode of “Sex Education”, this song is just such a vibe. Makes me feel okay to be in a slump.
Better Days — NEIKED: Such a bop. Helped me look forward to the brighter days ahead.
Ride with me — Aaron Frazer: “Ride with me, common and ride with me” → made me feel so cozy about being in love 🥰
About Damn Time — Lizzo: “I’ve been so down and under pressure, I’m way to fine to be this stressed… I got a feeling I’m gunna be alright” → felt like a turning point 🕺
Just One Look — The Derevolutions: Takes me back to another time in such a fun way.
Good Luck — Abhi the Nomad: “Don’t be so concerned. Don’t be scared to run the world” → get ready for this venture to take off 🚀
I Like That — Bazzi: “ I like that, YEAH” → Just a feel good song
Tacones Rojos — Sebastian Yatra: Heard this at the most hype cycle class ever while I was in Mexico City, and now I’m OBSESSED with this song.
Baby — Madison Beer: This was so relatable to me in my relationship at the time I heard it.
Keep Moving — Jungle: Inspiration to keep on pushing forward even when its tough. Had a lot of self doubts around the time when hearing this song.
Ride or Die — Durand Jones and the Indications: “Your my ride or die baby” → made me love harder.
Yes I Do — L.A.B: The sound and vocals just hit me right.
Sure Don’t Miss You — BUNT: INDEPENDENT vibes.
New York Groove — Ace Frehley: “Im back, back in the New York groove” → made me reminisce on my time in NY and just made me feel like I was on track with life.
Music for a Sushi Restaurant — Harry Styles: The part of the song that is on the Apple Music commercial is so unique and so pleasurable to hear 🤩
Stop This Flame — Celeste: Even without knowing the lyrics, the chorus just makes you want to sing 😍
We Dance — Crush Club: Just try to not move when the chorus comes in 💃
We Are Family (Original Mix) — Block and Crown: Made me so happy to hear a remix of this song.
Golden Age — Chris Staples: “You don’t have to” + “Do you wanna” → reminder to choose your own adventure!
Decide to Be Happy — Mister Wives: A great message, happiness can be a choice when you have a strong will.
Every Second — Mina Okabe: “I really like here in your arms…” such a cozy feeling 🥰 whole song so relatable.
Waves of You — Surfaces: The chorus just gets me 🤩
Best Worst Year — Strabe: “baby say you love me, I don’t want it, but I need it baby” → so relatable.
Way With Words — Bahamas: “I am, one Man. I can, do anything!” #motivation
Good People — Rhys Lewis: It makes me feel so happy to have close family and friends around 🥰
Machi — Peia: Had a great experience while singing along to this song ✨
